The Best Myrtle Beach Golf Courses

I’m not sure there’s such a thing as a bad Myrtle Beach golf course. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, is known as the "Golf Capital of the World”, boasting a whopping 90 courses. The links range from championship to affordable muni, and it’s a pleasure any time you’’re able to tee off on one.

If you’re planning a quick visit to the “Grand Strand”, and demand to sample the best golf the Myrtle Beach area has to offer, do yourself a favor and consider playing a round at the following clubs.

The Dunes Golf & Beach Club

Designed by a then little-known course architect named Robert Trent Jones, who is now regarded as one of the all-time greatest golf course architects ever to have touched the earth.

After seven decades of history and tradition, the Dunes Golf and Beach Club is a regular Top 100 Golf Course in many rankings. The Club has played host to many PGA Tours, Senior PGA Tours, USGA Championships, Women's, Amateur, National, and Collegiate events.

The Dunes Club currently has over 800 members and is semi-private. Please note that the membership has allowed limited access to the tee sheets, so good luck getting on this southern must-play

True Blue

Also consistently ranked in major golf publications “Top 100 Lists”, True Blue Golf Club is a gem of a course located just south of Myrtle Beach in Pawleys Island. The dramatic layout is known for its expansive fairways, undulating greens and elevation changes. The rolling terrain and lush native vegetation of this Mike Strantz-designed course makes for one of the most spectacular settings in golf. The club has an 18-acre practice facility, fully-stocked pro shop and inviting grill.

Caledonia Golf & Fish Club

Consistently included as a “must-play” course year after year in publications like Golf Magazine and Golf Digest, the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club is another Pawley’s Island treasure. The 6,526-yard, par-70 course has 18 unique holes meandering through majestic oaks and many water features. Enjoy a cocktail after your round on the porch of Caledonia’s classic southern clubhouse.

Legends-Moorland

Considered one of the more challenging courses on the East Coast – a par 72 stunner – Legends Moorland was designed by legendary golf architect P. B. Dye. This demanding track is definitely a “target” golf course, featuring sculpted terrain, deep bunkers, and sloped greens. Enjoy the 30-acre practice facility, driving range, and expansive clubhouse.

Barefoot Resort and Golf - Dye Course

Another Pete Dye Course, this is the only semi-private facility at the Barefoot Resort. Bordering natural white sands of the Carolina Bays, this Par 72, 7,343-yard track can be difficult, but should be manageable for any level of golfer if played from the appropriate tees. Described as “both beautiful and treacherous”, this course is a South Carolina experience you won’t want to pass up.

Myrtle Beach National – King’s North

King’s North is one of three courses at Myrtle Beach National Golf Club, and one of the area’s most acclaimed. It’s easy to get to if staying in Myrtle Beach or North Myrtle Beach, located just a few miles inland from the center of the Grand Strand. Designed by Arnold Palmer himself, the course is a Par 72, 6899 yard beauty, with a number of iconic and challenging holes. This course is a must play, featuring “The Gambler,” a fun par 5 with an alternate island fairway

Tidewater

Tidewater Golf Club offers natural beauty and a unique layout that has earned it a ranking among the nation’s top 100 public golf courses. This must-play North Myrtle Beach jewel is nestled between the local Intracoastal Waterway and Cherry Grove Inlet.

Renowned golf architect Ken Tomlinson I the genius behind Tidewater, which has become South Carolina's most-awarded golf course. The club is home to an 18-hole, par 72 championship course featuring nine water-side holes, a grand clubhouse with grill and pro-shop. Don’t miss it.

TPC Myrtle Beach

The Tournament Players Club of Myrtle Beach (TPC Myrtle Beach) invites you to test yourself on this difficult but beautiful 18-hole, par 72 undulating course. Tom Watson, Lanny Wadkins, Gary Player, Lee Trevino, and Ray Floyd are among the golf legends who have pitted themselves against the complexities of this Tour-caliber club.

TPC Myrtle Beach is open to the public. For golfers seeking a PGA Tour-caliber golf experience, TPC Myrtle Beach is the way to go.

We hope you enjoy your Myrtle Beach golf experience as hundreds of thousands of travelers have. And if you’re looking for quality accommodations for your trip, look no further than here. Safe travels, and hit ‘em straight!
